Building upon many years of privately shared thoughts on the real benefits of Stoic Philosophy, Liam Milburn eventually published a selection of Stoic passages that had helped him to live well. They were accompanied by some of his own personal reflections. This blog hopes to continue his mission of encouraging the wisdom of Stoicism in the exercise of everyday life. All the reflections are taken from his notes, from late 1992 to early 2017.

Stoic Conversations 15
"I don't believe in free will."
"Sure you do. You decided what you believed, and you just decided to say it."
"No, you're trying to trick me. I didn't decide that at all. I had to think it."
"Are you aware of what you are thinking, saying, and doing?"
"Well, yeah, of course."
So what is stopping you from thinking, or saying, or doing something quite different?"
"Nothing stops what I want."
"Then you are free."
"How about I decide to punch you in the face?"
"Go ahead. At least choose to do it. Don't blame it on anything else."
