Building upon many years of privately shared thoughts on the real benefits of Stoic Philosophy, Liam Milburn eventually published a selection of Stoic passages that had helped him to live well. They were accompanied by some of his own personal reflections. This blog hopes to continue his mission of encouraging the wisdom of Stoicism in the exercise of everyday life. All the reflections are taken from his notes, from late 1992 to early 2017.

Epictetus, Golden Sayings 124
Nor did the hero weep and lament at leaving his children orphans.
For he knew that no man is an orphan, but it is the Father that cares for all continually and for evermore. Not by mere report had he heard that the Supreme God is the Father of men: seeing that he called Him Father, believing Him so to be, and in all that he did had ever his eyes fixed upon Him.
Wherefore in whatsoever place he was, there it was given him to live happily.
