Philosophia

Albrecht Dürer, Philosophia (1502)

Referencing Lady Philosophy from Boethius’ Consolation of Philosophy. Wise men from the Greek (Plato), Egyptian (Ptolemy), Roman (Virgil and Cicero), and German (Albert the Great) traditions surround her, together with images depicting the four winds corresponding to the four elements and four humors.
