Building upon many years of privately shared thoughts on the real benefits of Stoic Philosophy, Liam Milburn eventually published a selection of Stoic passages that had helped him to live well. They were accompanied by some of his own personal reflections. This blog hopes to continue his mission of encouraging the wisdom of Stoicism in the exercise of everyday life. All the reflections are taken from his notes, from late 1992 to early 2017.

Ecclesiastes 2:1-3
[1] I said to myself, "Come now, I will make a test of pleasure; enjoy yourself." But behold, this also was vanity.
[2] I said of laughter, "It is mad," and of pleasure, "What use is it?"
[3] I searched with my mind how to cheer my body with wine—my mind still guiding me with wisdom—and how to lay hold on folly, until I might see what was good for the sons of men to do under heaven during the few days of their life.
