Building upon many years of privately shared thoughts on the real benefits of Stoic Philosophy, Liam Milburn eventually published a selection of Stoic passages that had helped him to live well. They were accompanied by some of his own personal reflections. This blog hopes to continue his mission of encouraging the wisdom of Stoicism in the exercise of everyday life. All the reflections are taken from his notes, from late 1992 to early 2017.

A Note on Numbering in Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Yes, it has rightly been pointed out that the numbering for the personal reflections on the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius used in this blog will not always match the sections of each book in most print editions.
Please be aware that this is not some attempt to be difficult or revisionist. It only means that when these reflections were first written, piece by piece over many years, the comments didn't always directly correspond to the specific sections.
Most often, the result is that a section has been split into two parts, because, at the time, it seemed best for the sake of ordering certain thoughts.
So, for example, Reflection 8.53 actually comes from section 8.51 in the classic George Long translation.
That was sloppy and unfortunate, and not clearly considered at the time. Many apologies!
If this set of reflections ever makes it to an e-book or print edition, the problem will be remedied. Thank you for understanding.
