Building upon many years of privately shared thoughts on the real benefits of Stoic Philosophy, Liam Milburn eventually published a selection of Stoic passages that had helped him to live well. They were accompanied by some of his own personal reflections. This blog hopes to continue his mission of encouraging the wisdom of Stoicism in the exercise of everyday life. All the reflections are taken from his notes, from late 1992 to early 2017.

Epictetus, Golden Sayings 91
Can you judge men? . . . then make us imitators of yourself, as Socrates did.
Do this, do not do that, or else I will cast you into prison; this is not governing men like reasonable creatures.
Say rather, As God has ordained, so do; or else you will suffer chastisement and loss.
Do you ask what loss? None other than this: To have left undone what you should have done, to have lost the faithfulness, the reverence, the modesty that is in you! Greater loss than this seek not to find!
