Building upon many years of privately shared thoughts on the real benefits of Stoic Philosophy, Liam Milburn eventually published a selection of Stoic passages that had helped him to live well. They were accompanied by some of his own personal reflections. This blog hopes to continue his mission of encouraging the wisdom of Stoicism in the exercise of everyday life. All the reflections are taken from his notes, from late 1992 to early 2017.

King Crimson: "Peace-An End"
King Crimson are like gods to me. They are only bested by Marillion in my musical esteem.
When I learned that one of my favorite musicians, Jakko Jaksyzk, was joining the roster of this legendary group, I was ecstatic. He was exactly what Robert Fripp needed to bring the band into new territory.
Sometimes one goes back to the old to make something new. That is exactly what King Crimson has been doing for the last few years. Here, the band returns to their second album, In the Wake of Poseidon, all the way from 1970. A short, simple, but achingly beautiful tune, that I hope anyone who is drawn to Stoicism can appreciate:

Peace is a word
Of the sea and the wind.
Peace is a bird who sings
As you smile.
Peace is the love
Of a foe as a friend;
Peace is the love you bring
To a child
Searching for me
You look everywhere,
Except beside you.
Searching for you
You look everywhere,
But not inside you.
Peace is a stream
From the heart of a man;
Peace is a man, whose breadth
Is the dawn.
Peace is a dawn
On a day without end;
Peace is the end, like death
Of the war.
