The Great Miseries of War 1

I understand how virtue can thrive even under the conditions of war, but I refuse to submit to the waging of war as a condition for virtue. 

This series of etchings by Jacques Callot chronicles the horrors of the Thirty Years War (1618-1648), when he saw his own country of Lorraine ravaged, and it serves as a warning for all time.
