Stoic Snippets 142

Every soul, the philosopher says, is involuntarily deprived of truth; consequently in the same way it is deprived of justice and temperance and benevolence and everything of the kind.

It is most necessary to bear this constantly in mind, for thus you will be more gentle towards all.

—Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 7.63

  1. My husband just started working last month as an assistant principal, which means dealing with parents and teachers and students. Using this quote as a lens, it's ridiculous how many stories he has. Lots of talking people down and just patiently redirecting until they can actually be worked/ reasoned with.
