Babylon 5: Dust to Dust/Message from Earth

G'Kar, the former ambassador for the Narn, finds himself in jail after assaulting Londo, the ambassador for the Centauri.

In "Dust to Dust", G'Kar had undergone a moral transformation. He had a vision about what it means to honor the name of his father:

"What is there left for Narn if all of Creation falls around us? There is nothing. No hope, no dream, no future, no life, unless we turn from the cycle of death towards something greater.  If we are a dying people, then let us die with honor, by helping the others as no one else can."

"I don't understand."

"Because you have let them distract you, blind you with hate. You cannot see the battle for what it is. We are fighting to save one another, we must realize we are not alone. We rise and fall together, and some of us must be sacrificed, if all are to be saved. Because if we fail in this, then none of us will be saved, and the Narn will be only a memory. . ."

During G'Kar's time behind bars, in "Message from Earth", he is now someone very different:

"In here, Mr. Garibaldi, you cannot hide from yourself.  Everything out there has only one purpose, to distract us from ourselves, from what is truly important. There are no distractions in here. You can learn much from silence."

G'Kar has much more ahead of him, more pain than most of us could bear, but he now has the tools to rightly face all of it.
