Building upon many years of privately shared thoughts on the real benefits of Stoic Philosophy, Liam Milburn eventually published a selection of Stoic passages that had helped him to live well. They were accompanied by some of his own personal reflections. This blog hopes to continue his mission of encouraging the wisdom of Stoicism in the exercise of everyday life. All the reflections are taken from his notes, from late 1992 to early 2017.

Pharrell Williams, "Happy"
I have never had much interest in music that is considered 'popular'. My poor students will ask me if I know of any recent music. "Yes," I say, "I just bought Marillion's new album." They are deeply confused by this.
I care little for the popular drama. Yet Pharrell's "Happy" has become my Stoic anthem for the year. It tells me everything I need to know, and it does so with class.
The man's taste in hats is more than sufficient ;-)
"Here come bad news, talking this and that
Well, give me all you got, don't hold it back
Well, I should probably warn ya, I'll be just fine
No offense to you, don’t waste your time
Here's why...
Because I'm happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I'm happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I'm happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I'm happy
Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do."
